Without any doubt, AVI is one of the most widespread formats used for encoding movies, TV shows, home video, and educational materials. However, it is not the best option for Macbook(Air, Pro, iMac) users, because AVI files will only play on Mac computer if they are encoded using QuickTime codec, which is not usually the case.
